"The Many Colors of Sunlight." Educational Web Sites. N.p., n.d. Web. 29 Dec. 2012. <http://www.phy6.org/stargaze/Sun4spec.htm>.
This website gives me a real idea of how the spectrum and wavelength of light ever began. It shows who came up with it, and how it is measured and how light can be maneuvered in different ways.
- The colors of the rainbow are the "basic spectrum" from which all the light we see is composed.
- Just as various musical sounds contain the tones of the basic scale (often combinations of tones, e.g. chords), so any colored light is made up of its "spectral components.”
- Isaac Newton showed that not only can a triangular prism separate a beam of sunlight into rainbow colors (that had already been known), but also that, when a second prism brings the different colors together again, white light is once more obtained.

"How Light Affects Plant Growth | Education.com." Education.com | An Education & Child Development Site for Parents | Parenting & Educational Resource. N.p., n.d. Web. 29 Dec. 2012. <http://www.education.com/science-fair/article/light-affects-plant-growth/>.
This website gives me background information on why light is so important in the growth of plants, (photosynthesis). And it shows me that red, blue, and green are all good colors to look for in light to make leaves grow. Also how the relationship between light and plants is very important in how they interact with each other.
- The relationship between light and plant growth can be demonstrated by exposing leaves to various colors of light.
- Light supplies the power to carry on photosynthesis, the food-making process in leaves.
- The spectrum of light most utilized by a leaf is limited to three distinct colors, red, blue and yellow.
- Leaves appear green because green is the color most leaves reflect rather than absorb.

"How Does Color of Light Affect Plant Growth? | Garden Guides." Garden Guides, Your Guide to Everything Gardening. N.p., n.d. Web. 18 Dec. 2012. <http://www.gardenguides.com/87235-color-light-affect-plant-growth.html>.
This website gives me tips on what to use when growing plants indoors, and how the color of light is highly used in the growth of plants. Also what types of light should be used when growing certain plants.
- Plants use other colors of light to fulfill basic needs of their life cycle.
- Plants need blue light for the growth of stems, stalks and leaves.
- Germinating seeds, seedlings and transplants need blue light.
- Red light is needed for flowering and the production of fruit.
- The color of light is a major when you grow plants indoors.
- Fluorescent light that contains lots of blue light is good for starting seeds indoors.

Travers, Bridget, and Jeffrey Muhr. World of scientific discovery. Detroit: Gale Research, 2007. Print.
This reference gave me background information on how light spectrum was founded, and how Spectrum can be found in many different ways, like glass and water.
- The first person to examine the color spectrum in this way was the renowned English physicist and mathematician Sir Isaac Newton.
- White light, being a composite, is made of many different colors
- Different wavelengths are bent to greater or lesser degree according to the refractive index of the substance they pass through, (such as glass or water.
- The science of examining spectra and spectral lines is called spectroscopy.

“Color”. Science Weekly 23 Aug. 1995: 1. Gale Student Resources In Context. Web. 8 Mar. 2012.
This reference gives me an excellent source of background research, and how the color of light is seen with the human eye.
- You need light to see color
- When light is bent, or refracted, it separates into 7 different wavelengths
- A spectrum is made when light is passed through some clear material like glass, plastic, or water.
